Do you offer Day Passes?
The Briars is Private Property. The beautiful waterfront, woods and recreation facilities are reserved exclusively for our overnight guests. We do not offer Day Use except as a paying guest of one of our overnight guests, limited use for our Day Spa Packages and for pre-booked Corporate or Social Day Functions. Wristband policy is in effect. Trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. For full details please refer to our Recreation Policy.
Do you have a beach area?
At the Cottages we have about 750 feet of natural rocky shoreline with pleasant areas to sit and enjoy the lake breezes or take a swim. At the east end of this is a small sandy play area where kids can build sand castles and putter in and out of the water. At the Inn we have about 500 feet of natural shoreline with pleasant areas to sit and relax. At the west end of this is a dock where we have kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, paddle boards and a swim ladder.
Do you have squash courts?
We do not have squash courts, but we do offer outdoor tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
What size is your indoor Pool?
The indoor pool is 40 feet by 20 feet.
Do you rent cross-country skis?
Yes, we do offer ski rentals. A full day rental is $17.00 and the half-day rental is $11.75. Some junior sets are available at $13.50 for full day and $9.75 for half day. Taxes are extra.
Do you rent snowmobiles?
Snowmobile rentals are not available in this area.
Is it safe to swim in the lake?
Lake swimming is very safe. We recommend that guest wear water shoes. We have some water shoes available at our waterfront.
What do you have for children?
Families come to The Briars to rebond and share special time together. Kids enjoy playing on the beautiful spacious grounds, splashing in the pool or playing lawn games with parents, the sleigh ride or skating in the winter. For everyone's comfort the Coach House Dining Room is set aside for families during holiday periods. If parents are planning golf or spa time, or a special quiet dinner without the kids, please reserve baby-sitters when you reserve your accommodations or in advance of your arrival.
Do you rent skates?
We have a few pairs of kids skates but we recommend you bring your own.
Are there any sights to see nearby?
Nearby attractions include historic St.George's Church, Sibbald Point Provincial Park, Jackson's Point Harbour, the Georgina Museum, Lake Simcoe Scenic Trail, Eildon Hall Museum, Sharon Temple and the Kirkfield Lift Lock (Trent-Severn Waterway). Also nearby are mini-golf, bowling, go carting and horseback riding.
Within a one-hour drive there is... Toronto's shopping, theatres, museums, art galleries, cinemas, festivals and sports events. These include Toronto Skydome, Air Canada Centre, CN Tower, Metro Toronto Zoo, Hockey Hall of Fame, Ontario Science Centre, Ontario Place, Royal Ontario Museum, Paramount Canada's Wonderland, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Woodbine Racetrack, the Toronto Islands, Bata Shoe Museum, Casino Rama, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kortright Centre for Conservation, and much much more.
Is there shopping nearby?
There are many antique shops and artisan studios in the area. Upper Canada Mall and the shops of Newmarket are a 35-minute drive from The Briars.
Do you offer water-skiing?
At this time water skiing and motor boat rentals are not available locally. However, some guests do bring their own boat and if you are doing so, there are launch facilities at Jackson's Point.
Which activities are additional charges?
Spa services (eg. massage therapy, facials), skis, baby-sitters, room service, golf. At certain times other services may be additional. Please check current rate sheets and please ask reservations for rates and details.
