Careers at The Briars Resort

Exciting Careers and Fun Seasonal Jobs!

Fall/Winter Job Fair

Sunday August 28, 2016  3 - 4:30 pm

Seeking Full and Part-time year-round:
Servers, Dishwashers, Housekeepers, Spa Laundry/Room Attendant, Maintenance.

The Briars employs 80 people year-round with a surge up to 100+ from May to October. We are known within the industry for excellent training. This is recognized by our guests, who tell us regularly that our staff are well-trained, friendly, caring and courteous people who provide attentive service.

If you have decided hospitality is your career, consider joining The Briars and enjoy all the opportunities offered by an independent resort, spa and conference centre. Graduates and students on work terms have the chance for exposure to several departments, developing a greater depth of knowledge and understanding. Our students are not limited to one department, and have the chance to see how the pieces come together to make the resort work.

If the time comes that you are ready to travel and work elsewhere, or if we are unable to provide the next step up, come talk to us. The Briars is a member of several hospitality associations and we can often arrange for a change to another fine establishment.

Our staff tell us that working in a family-owned resort provides them with a nice homey feeling and relationships that last a lifetime.

General Requirements:

  • Most jobs require applicants to be a minimum of 18 years old, in good physical health, and well-organized.
  • All successful candidates must be caring, considerate people who really want to look after guests and their needs in a team environment. Resort work is fun but also hard work. Do you like hard physical work?
  • Comfortable bedrooms (limited number) for staff are available on site.

Staff have use of recreation facilities that include:

  • Summer: tennis, championship golf (at a discounted rate), pool, beach, lake swimming, quiet boats and much more.
  • Winter: cross-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing, winter fun golf, fitness room.
  • Wages vary according to responsibility and experience. Most jobs are $11 per hour and upward.
  • Mostly 6-day work week May to October, 3- to 5-day work in winter.
  • Training and management is by professional year-round staff.
  • Six months or longer and year-round contracts available in most positions; four-month contracts available for summer students.
