Are recreational facilities available for dining visitors?
If you are coming to enjoy a meal on the patio, in the lounge or dining room and are not staying overnight with us, you are welcome to take a stroll on the grounds, play a game of ladder golf or bocci or enjoy a view of the lake from the upper bank while you digest your meal. Please be prepared to show your meal receipt if you are approached by our staff. Generally not more than an hour after your meal, it's a good time to go without overstaying your welcome. Enjoy your visit but remember that Recreation Facilities are reserved for overnight guests and that this policy is strictly enforced. If you have your pet with you, please assure that it is kept out of all licensed areas including the big front lawn and off of our walking trails. Local Beaches at Sibbald Point Park or west of Jackson's Point can make for a pleasant destination before or after a meal and are generally not crowded on weekdays.
Do you have packages without meals?
While most overnight guests are on the Briars Signature Getaway full meal package, others may choose a modified package without lunch, a package with room and breakfast, or room only. Please inquire with our reservationist if you do not find the package you desire on-line.
Are meals served from a menu or are they buffets?
Breakfast is often a buffet but à la carte is also offered at times. Inquire at booking time. For lunch there is an à la carte menu, as well as often a choice of a buffet. In July and August there is a casual barbecue in addition to the à la carte menu Wednesday through Sunday. Dinner is our à la carte menu unless indicated differently on some special occasion such as Christmas Eve. Drinkwater's Lounge serves an à la carte menu daily from 11:30am to 9:00pm.
Meals served in Drinkwater's are not included in your package except by special request.
What times are meals served?
The meal times vary depending on the season and may vary for certain days of occasions. Please confirm times when booking accommodations.
*During quiet periods midweek when there are fewer guest, all meals are often served fireside in Drinkwater's with white linen and full menus. On those evenings the Lounge may close early when guests have finished their evening.
*Winter hours are October to mid-April.
What is your dress code?
Daytime wear is sporty or casual. Spa robes are welcome in Drinkwater's and on the patio.
For dinner in the dining room we suggest smart casual. Some guests prefer to dress up a bit more Saturday evenings or special occasions. We recognize that dressing up for dinner is not always possible, but definitely no sweats or shorts in the dining room.
Where can I smoke while I am in The Briars dining room?
The Briars inside is smoke-free. A section of the Fountain Court Patio outside the dining rooms and Drinkwater's Lounge is available for smoking. And, of course, there is the out-of-doors-and lots of it!
Can you look after vegetarians?
We have a selection of vegetarian items available at all times. Please see the menus.
What meals are included in my package?
Please check which meals are included. Our Signature Getaway includes dinner, breakfast and lunch. Our Bed and Breakfast Getaway includes breakfast. Our room only package has no meals included. Modified packages are also available.
Do I need to stay at The Briars to eat there?
We welcome visitors who are not staying with us in our dining rooms and in Drinkwater's' Lounge. Reservations are recommended for the dining room. Banquets and parties of 10 or more should contact our Catering Department at email@example.com
Can you look after my food allergy?
Most allergies can be handled on our regular menu. In the case of severe allergies, (i.e. those resulting in anaphylactic shock) please inform the reservationist when booking and confirm that we are able to handle your particular allergy or set of allergies. Also, please re-confirm with the dining room host or hostess on arrival.
Do you have a children’s menu?
We have a children's menu; children may also choose from the main menu. Families with small children usually sit together in the Coach House Dining Room; this allows both parents and other guests a chance to relax.
