Frequently Asked Questions for Our Resort Policies
Do you have a honeymoon package?
We have a two-night honeymoon package, option of fireplace or heritage room. Includes a bottle of Sparkling Wine and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries on arrival in your room, with dinner and breakfast each day. We are happy to arrange flowers or other special treats in addition, to make your honeymoon stay a memorable one.
What facilities are included in my stay and can I invite friends to visit?
Full use of the Resort's Recreational Facilities and Programming are included in your overnight package. Guests staying overnight may invite friends to visit. Often guests enjoy inviting friends for a meal, a drink or a game of golf. If you would like your guests to have use of the recreation facilities while they are here, please inquire at the front desk. A small charge applies and your guests will be issued a certified day receipt. If you would like your guests to golf with you, please see the front desk to purchase your golf voucher. Meals taken with friends may be charged to your account or paid at the time of consumption.
Do you have rooms with a Jacuzzi?
We have some rooms available with a single whirlpool bathtub.
Do you have rooms with fireplaces?
We have rooms at the Inn with log-burning fireplaces. Each of the Lakeside and Boathouse guest rooms has a gas fireplace. Many cottages and rooms have electric fireplaces. There are fireplaces in many of the Inn living rooms available for guest use.
Do you have rooms with a separate bedroom?
The Briars offers Two bedroom cottages which also have a living room; Cottages with bed-sitting room and separate bedroom; Studio bed-sitting rooms with interconnecting rooms; Interconnecting guestrooms; Governor Simcoe Suite; Private Lodges with living room and separate bedrooms.
Do your cottages have cooking facilities?
Our rooms do not have cooking facilities. Our cottages have a coffee maker, teapot and fixings, a small fridge for keeping snacks and drinks, and many have microwaves but not cooking facilities. Sunrise Cottage has a full kitchen with stove and oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and barbecue. Guests are not permitted to bring any barbecues or cooking equipment. Guests who cook in their accommodations will be responsible for the cost of special cleaning and any renovations necessary to remove cooking odour in addition to the resort's lost revenue. A variety of meal plans are available to suit your getaway. Please inquire.
Do you allow guests to smoke at The Briars?
The Briars inside is smoke-free. Smoking is permitted on some guest room patios and balconies. There is the outdoors and lots of it! We request guests smoke well away from entrances to keep buildings free of smoke.
Do you allow pets?
Several cottages are pet-friendly. For guest comfort, we do not allow pets at the Inn nor in recreational areas. York Region Health prohibits pets, other than service pets, in food service areas including outdoor patios.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4 pm. Check-out from your room is at 11 am.
Do you offer a one-night getaway package on the weekends?
One night weekend stays are always subject to availability. Please call us for details.
What is your charge for single guest getaways?
Our rates are based on a cost per adult, with two adults in the room. A single supplement of $50 to $90 applies, depending on accommodation and the season. However, a selection of Manor House Heritage rooms are available at our 'Singles Special rate' with no single supplement. Please inquire about these.
Do you have a minimum stay requirement on weekends?
On many weekends there is a two-night minimum stay requirement over Saturday evening. Friday night getaways are quite popular. One-night Saturday stays are subject to availability.
Do you offer special rates or programs for seniors?
Some areas of the Inn and Manor House are considered "adult only". Separate dining areas for families with small children helps assure The Briars stays comfortable for those travelling with or without family. For guests 60+ years of age, we sometimes offer special senior's rates or promotions.
Tell me about getaway rates for social groups like reunions
We offer special seasonal rates and packages for social groups and have an excellent selection of accommodations to suit. Please see our social groups section for further information or call 1-800-465-2376 for your customized package.
What are your golf rates?
We offer prime-time golf coupons at a discount from regular greens fees. Please see our golf section for rates and policies for adults and juniors.
What deposit is required?
For leisure guests, to confirm a reservation, a deposit of $100 per person is required for reservations 4 days or less, $200 per person for stays 5 days or longer and during Christmas and New Years. Group bookings include a different deposit structure.
What is the cancellation policy?
For leisure guests, in the event of cancellation of all or part of a booking, the deposit will be forfeited unless the resort receives adequate notice as defined below:
• 30 days’ notice of cancellation required if your reservation is part of a group of ten or more people
• 14 days’ notice of cancellation required for all other bookings
There will be a $25.00 administration fee on any refunded deposit.
May I arrive later, or depart earlier than my confirmed reservation dates?
Guests who arrive after their confirmed arrival date, or who depart before their confirmed departure date, will forfeit their deposit unless we are able to sell their accommodation for the full period originally booked.
If I miss a meal can I get a refund for that part of the getaway package?
There is no credit for meals missed during your stay. Changes to the meal plan must be made at the time of booking.
If I don’t use a part of a getaway package can I receive a refund?
The Briars shall not become liable or responsible for non-utilization of package components or loss of recreational opportunities due to weather, safety issues or any circumstances beyond our control.

The Resort Fee covers parking, Wi-Fi, special costs associated with Heritage grounds and facilities, use of all recreation and programs (when available).
What types of payment do you accept?
Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Debt, American Express, travellers' cheques or cash. Gift Certificates from Resorts of Ontario accepted.
